An Interview with My Arcadia
Jen: Tell us who you are and what you do in your band.
Jacqui: Hi, my name is Jacqui. I sing for a band called My Arcadia.
Alex: My name’s Alex and I play guitar.
Chris: My name’s Chris, and I play bass.
Chris 2: My name is also Chris and I play the drums.
Jen: Tell me your favorite thing about Warped Tour.
Jacqui: Ok, well, my favorite thing, personally is absolutely the catering, the accommodations of definitely the healthier vegan options, and the cucumber spa water is tot’s a plus.
Alex: There’s some steaks outside so I’m looking forward to those.
Chris 2: Yeah, every time I open that door I smell those steaks (laughs).
Jen: What about the worst thing about Warped? Other than the heat.
Jacqui: Trying to get kids to pay attention to you. Trying to think of your gimmick.
Alex: I mean, ‘cause everyone is trying to sell themselves, to promote themselves.
Jacqui: We technically have an Indian break dancer at our tent.
Alex: Yeah. We’re trying to think of some clever ideas to really put ourselves out there in a better way but you know, it’s hard to stand out sometimes.
Jen: Do you have a large fan base here today? Do you see a lot of people who have been to your shows and ‘OhmyGod I love you guys’?
Alex: Yeah, we’ve run into a decent about of people. We’re from like, me and Jackie are from like New Jersey and the rest of the band’s from the Bronx in New York So, I mean like this is kinda like our second hometown and New York as well so we have some fans around.
Jacqui: Definitely a strong fan base here.
Alex: Definitely. These are our better areas to play in so.
Jen: All of the venues that have been on Warped Tour are participating in Klean Kanteen, as it’s traveling the country with. How do you guys feel about the campaign?
Jacqui: It’s the most amazing thing they could have at something like this.
Alex: Yeah.
Jacqui: I mean, you have people who are completely dehydrated and they don’t even know they’re dehydrated. People are, you know, they’re getting really sick, and this is like the perfect way [to help prevent that]. It’s extremely environmental.
Alex: Yeah, I mean definitely.
Jacqui: And it keeps plastic out too. So that’s really good.
Jen: As long as you guys have been on the tour, has Warped Tour always been so environmentally friendly?
Jacqui: Yeah, they’ve definitely put a lot of stuff out there, in different ways though. Nothing is consistent at something like that.
Jen: Where are you guys on the go-green, eco-friendly train?
Alex: [to Jackie, laughing] Oh, are you looking for me on that question? I mean like, we support it obviously. It’s obviously a great cause and I mean like, if you get everyone together it’s about a movement so, get everyone together and you know you can really change…
Jacqui: It can be expensive sometimes [laughs] but you make your way around it.
Alex: But definitely, it’s a good cause and a good movement so…
Jacqui: Something I’ve always wanted to do is the veggie-oil-van thing.
Alex: Yeah I’ve always wanted to like put my car on that.
Jacqui: Not sure how to go about it yet, but it’s something I’m interested in.
Jen: That would be something really cool for you guys to do when you’re on tour, when you’re roaming around doing all your stuff and then if you guys do it, your fans are gonna be into it and it’ll just grow.
Jacqui: Exactly. There’s also a lot of companies that kinda do that for you; they like set it up for you.
Alex: Yeah, spreading that veggie love.
Jacqui: Maybe that’ll be in our future.
Jen: Is there anything else you guys wanna add about your music or about Warped Tour or about the meaning of life?
Jacqui: We look at each other like ‘Ahh’ [laughs]. Well, we’re going into the studio after Warped Tour. We’re doing preproduction right now. And we’re going into doing a second record. It’s been a while since we’ve come out with anything. And actually, right now on the tour we have sorta like a mini-sampler that people can pick up and hear our new song.
Alex: Yeah we have like an exclusive summer drop card that has you know, like new tracks on it and stuff like that.
Jacqui: Give ya’ a nice little sneak peek.
Alex: It’s kinda like a sneak peek into our new album coming out so…
Jen: Very cool. Thanks for your time.
(Thanks all around)
