This past Sunday, March 25th, Dr. Dog made their triumphant return to the Electric Factory stage in Philadelphia, PA. After playing a sold out show the night before there was still no lack of energy for this second night. The band was clearly on top of their game and the crowd was eating their infectious energy up.
Opening for Dr. Dog was local jam band Birds of Maya. Now it may be because I just don't really understand the appeal of jam bands but I really did not enjoy this group. They really did not have any sort of stage presence, the bassist kept his back to the crowd almost the entire time, and all around they just bored me. Probably the most exciting part of their set was when they had someone come out and play the harmonica. As a whole this band was comprised of fantastic musicians, I just kept getting bored and found myself wishing their set would end.
After what seemed like a painfully long wait, Dr. Dog finally took to the stage. Their stage set up alone was incredible. They basically built up an apartment type thing on stage, complete with windows, a fireplace, and a door through which they entered and were greeted by someone dressed in a astronaut costume. As a band, the gentlemen in Dr. Dog work incredibly well together and have a fantastic stage presence. Dr. Dog played a grand total of 23 songs by the time the night was over including "That Old Black Hole" from their latest album Be The Void which was released on January 31st. In all it was a superb show that left everyone in the audience happy. -Alicia Brown

This past Wednesday, March 14th, Hey Rosetta! and Gomez graced the stage of the Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA. While the crowd was small their energy was huge. The bands were both absolutely fantastic and demonstrated a type of musicality that left me envious. I was throughly impressed with the addition of the cello and violin in Hey Rosetta!, It really made their performance stand out for me and made me wish that I was a better cellist. Their stage presence was enthralling and they had the audience absolutely captivated. If you get the chance, I highly suggest going out to a show near you.- Alicia Brown

Last Wednesday, Morningwood and Mindless Self Indulgence made the Philadelphia, PA stop of their current US Tour at the Trocadero. If you haven't seen either of these bands live, you are definitely missing out. Both bands had such great energy that I couldn't help but be jealous of how much they can move. Both bands had a great sense of humor that went over quite well with the crowd and it was obvious that these guys (and girls) absolutely love what they are doing. Check out some photos of Morningwood and Mindless Self Indulgence and try to make it out to a show if you want to have a great time.

If you were around in the late 90’s early 2000’s it would be safe to say that you heard of Aaron Carter. This pop star came in with the wave of other pop singers such as Brittney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and boy bands ‘N Sync, 98 Degrees, and the Backstreet Boys. Recently Aaron has been quiet when it comes to music and he has been focusing more on his staring roll as “Matt” in the longest running Broadway musical The Fantasticks. He has recently extended his run in the musical until April 22nd so if you haven’t gotten the chance to see it yet, be sure to get tickets before you miss your chance.
Tonight, Aaron is going to be playing a show at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown, PA. You can relive your childhood singing along to some of Aaron’s hit songs such as ‘I Want Candy’ and hear some of his newer material that he has been working on as of late. In our exclusive interview with Aaron he says that the new material that he is currently working on maintains his pop-roots and adds a bit more hip-hop into the mix. No collaborations have been talked about as of yet but it didn’t sound like it would be out of the question.
You will not want to miss this flashback to your youth. Be a part of “Aaron’s Party” tonight at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown, PA. Doors are at 5:30pm and tickets are $20. You can pick up tickets at the door or online here.
Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Aaron Carter in the upcoming days.
